Maiden Holland is a cottage kitchen located in the charming Dutch community of Pella, Iowa. Owner Anna Ruppert combines her passion for artisan pie and affection for crusty bread with a love of Dutch culture and zeal for domestic pursuits. Her mission is to inspire a new generation of pie bakers and homemakers by serving up fresh, seasonal, handcrafted baked goods and homemade items. Maiden Holland uses organic, fresh, seasonal ingredients whenever possible.
Anna is a former librarian turned stay-at-home-mom/hobby baker putting her research and domestic skills to use. She enjoys nosing through obscure and out-of-print cookbooks to find winning recipes, sometimes creating her own. She believes in pie for breakfast with a hearty scoop of ice cream and is quite literally the face and force behind Maiden Holland. Her maiden name is Holland!
When she's not baking you can find her homeschooling, gardening, walking, sewing, reading, or advocating for urban chickens.
Maiden Holland was the winner of the 2022 Red Rock StartUP! Pitch Contest and has a recipe published in the March/April 2023 issue of Dutch the Magazine.
Anna recently downgraded from a licensed home food processing establishment to a simple cottage kitchen after her 4th child was born. She is busy with little ones and only manages to bake for friends and family these days. Hopefully, when life slows down, she'll make her big return and resume taking public orders once again.
